1. Lakshimi must leave her family and friends in the village to go help her family get out of debt, she must go to the city to work.
2. When Lakshimi leaves to the city, she must travel with a woman that she must call "auntie."
3. Lakshimi and her "auntie" travel for many days in a carriage things, they go through many villages and cities.
4. They get on a bus that takes them through other cities but Lakshimi does not understand why they have passed so many cities and not have stopped.
5. They stop and the "auntie" buys clothes for Lakshimi because she has to cross the border. She has now met a man that she has to call her "uncle."
